-Hi
Tony, I am flattered you chose this website for sharing
your story, to start this interview off, please give
me some background information.
Hi Edo. My
name is Tony Helskens and I raised up and born in Belgium
in a small village called Zelzate. During the time I
lived there I ended my high school as a mechanic and
did one year sport-massage.
-When
did you start your career as a model? Was that your
dream when you were a kid?
My modeling career started
very late when I was 28 y.o. There was a modeling
contest in the Netherlands and a friend wrote
me in. The
winner would be on the cover of Men's Health. The competition
was hard and there were people. I won the contest and this was my first cover.
This was a start to doing modeling
...You have to be patient in the model industry, it
can go fast but also very slow don't give up and go
for your goal and you will see where you will end.
As a child I always dreamed to be a soccer player,
playing in a full stadium with crowded people, scoring
goals and the crowd go crazy.

-Do you remember
your first assignment as a model?
My first
casting was in Brussels for a clothing commercial, the
brand was C&A. We had to dance on the casting and
it was very funny to do it, doing it as much crazy as we
could. At the end of the day they called me and this was
my first job.
-What
kind of assignments as a model do you prefer?
For
me job is job they are so different and have a lot in common
at the same time. Playing with the camera when you are
shooting and filming and just be yourself and relax.
Presenting clothes on a runaway gives you a kick to
run with the nicest clothes in the world before you
have to practice a bit and make some fun when the show starts you
are concentrated and do your thing. You meet so
many people in the model industry and that is so great
and you make a lot of new friends
-How
do you like to spend your free time? Do you have a hobby?
In my free time I play guitar and try to make
some music, I watch movies with some friends and go
sporting.
-Do
you like to travel? What was the most interesting place
you have ever visited?
Traveling is
so wonderful to do, you see new countries meet
new people and share experience in live. The nicest
place I ever been was London.
-What
kind of music do you like? Who is your favourite singer
or band?
I like a lot acoustic music. The
best part for me is the acoustic guitar. Also lounge,
rock and disco from the early years is great for listen.
My favorite groups are Coldplay, Oasis, Keane.
-What's
your favourite sport? How often do you play it?
I don't have favorite sports for the moment, I like
many sports but for the moment it
is fitness and running.
-Thanks
again Tony for taking the time to reply to my questions,
good luck with your career!
Thanks
for the interview, Edo.
