-Hello
Radoslav, Welcome to CoverMen Mag!, to start this
interview off, please give some background information.
So
my name is Radoslav Vanko. I am from Slovakia but currently
live in Miami Beach and I spent the past 4 months in
NYC. I graduated in the faculty of physical education
and sport and got one master's degree title as a teacher
and personal trainer. I have a great relationship with
my parents and my sister. They live in my hometown called
Zilina.
-How did you start your career
as a model?
Well I never thought "I
wanna be a model", but during my study at college
a lot of people advised me to sign up with a modeling
agency so later I decided to send some pictures of mine
to some agencies to see their opinion. The respond
was lightning fast and more positive than I was expecting
so than I signed with one of them and I started
to co-operate with them straight away.
-How
did you get your first modeling job and what was it
like?
My first modeling job was for a magazine's
editorial back home...It was fun. But my first modeling
job abroad was Gucci fashion show in Taiwan.
-What
kind of assignments, as a model, do you prefer? Do you
prefer doing photo shoots for editorials and campaigns
or the fashion shows?
Well its always depend
on lot of facts. I mean who I am shooting with, what
we are shooting for etc. But in general as long as there's
a
nice energy on the shooting and everything works as
it should I rather do photo shoots than fashion
shows, because I guess I am not the exact type
of guy who likes to show off on the stage.
-Tell
me what do you consider to be your best achievement
so far?
Honestly I am still waiting
for the right achievement like a worldwide campaign
of a famous fashion designer but so far I would say
my best achievements are Timberland campaign, Gant campaign,
Nivea campaign (for Asia only), Cubavera campaign, TV
commercial for Panasonic and Private Structure underwear
campaign (for Asia), Levi’s campaign (for Asia), Pierre
Cardin underwear (print work).
-Tell me about
your professional plans: apart from modeling, what else
would you like to pursue?
Well of course
soon or later modeling gonna be just my besides
job. So later I would like to have some nice job
back home I mean I can see myself work in the industry
of my degree, or it can be something else. I have some
ideas so I will see...
-If you had to use few words
to describe your personality, which adjectives would
you use?
I would say friendly and outgoing.
-Do you have an ideal woman? What should
be her qualities and features to make her attractive
to you?
Yes my girlfriend is the ideal woman
for me. We support each other, she is a sweetheart
and pretty as well. She is tolerant, smart, elegant
but also an athlete girl.
-How do you
usually spend your spare time and what is the meaning
of fun and have a good time for you?
I
am a sport guy so during my free time I always
like to ride my bike, go to gym, play tennis ets. I
also love traveling – see new places and taking pictures
so than I can kill two birds with one stone. Sometimes
I just feel like chilling out, go to the beach or so
and listen to music. And once in a while I am in
mood to clubbing so I have so much fun with all
my friends around.
-How
do you do to stay in shape? Do you work out, diet or
you don’t need any of that?
I've never been
on diet. Of course if I can, I choose healthy
food, but my key to be fit and stay in good shape is
to work out. Like I mentioned before, sport
is my passion and my daily routine. When I was
a boy I used to do alpine ski, karate and then almost
9 years road cycling. Lately I like to mix it up so
I do cardio and weights as well.
-Thanks
Rado for sharing your story with me!
