-Hello
Chris, thanks for accepting to be interviewed for my
online magazine, to start please tell me something about
your background.
My name is Chris Poydenis.
I was born in Greenwich CT. I graduated from Villanova
University where I played football and received a degree
in Political Science. I currently reside in Manhattan
and I go back and forth to Miami (south beach) for work.
-How did you get into modeling and what
do you think about this career?
I
first got started in modeling when I was on Spring Break
my senor year of college. An agent by the name of Steve
Wimbley introduced himself to me and explained that
he was with Wilhelmina and he wanted to know if I would
consider modeling for their men's board. At the time
I was playing football and drinking beer (not at the
same time). We agreed that is was not the right timming
in my life to begin a career. Steve asked me to call
him when I was done with college. When I graduated I
called him up and he immediately booked me for Cosmopolitan
Magazine. Ever since then I have been working with Steve
(Who is now with Elite Models). Modeling has been a
great time and a blessing. I enjoy almost all aspects
of the experience. It is a very competitive industry
so it serves as a great way to maintain my athletic
mentality. However I will say that modeling is not for
the sensitive or the insecure types. I have developed
very thick skin over the past three years.
-Tell
me about your modeling experiences so far.
Thus
far I have been fortunate enough to work for many name
brands (Speedo, Perry Ellis, Park & Ronen, Machine
Clothing, Bacardi, Absolute Vodka, Cosmopolitan Magazine,
just to name a few) I have also been in a few television
shows and I became SAG eligible due to my lead role
in a Honda Accord Commercial last year. My first runway
was at the Raleigh Hotel in South Beach. It was for
Speedo! So my first trip down a runway was with almost
nothing on! I was surprised at how comfortable I was
once I got out there. Modeling has also allowed me to
travel to Hong Kong, Mexico, Fiji, and many other places
that a regular 9 to 5 job would not afford me.
-What
kind of assignments, as a model, do you prefer?
There
is no way to describe the rush I get right before I
go out on the runway. It is surreal. However fun runway
is, I would always prefer to be in front of a camera
whether it be video or print. The first four to six
hours of a photo shoot are fun and then it becomes taxing
(both mentally and physically) on a commercial or television
set I find it much easier to keep my energy up for the
entire day. Film crews, producers, and other talent
create an infectious atmosphere. I feel like I am part
of a team effort and I am compelled to stay alert and
contribute to that team. The work ethic of these people
astonishes me.
-Have you ever considered
to pursue a career in acting? If yes, tell me what kind
of movies would your like to star in?
I originally
thought of modeling as a gateway to acting. I would
love to be involved in the movie business. I probably
don't have what it takes but if I could emulate any
actors career it would be along the lines of Brad Pitt/Luke
Wilson. I am a huge fan of their choices as actors.
They don't take the easy to do "Hot guy" roles.
They always do interesting movies with provocative concepts.
Such movies include The Royal Tenebaums, Fight Club,
Bottle Rocket, Snatch, etc... and what guy wouldn't
want to be LIKE BRAD PITT!!?!?! Remember I said IF I
could be like anyone in the movie biz.
-I
am sure it is something you will never need to do, being
a good looking guy, but if you should describe yourself
in personal ads to attract single women, which words
would you use?
If
I HAD to have a personal ad on a dating site....I would
use words like, "Loyal", "Honest",
and I am really a child at heart to a certain degree.
I love life and any girl I am with needs to love it
to an equal degree. She also needs to share my convictions
in regards to loyalty, honesty and class... I haven't
had good luck finding all of that in one person yet.
-How
would you cheer up a friend if he got dumped by his
girlfriend?
Cheering up a friend who has
just been hurt by a girl is an easy task.... BAR + DRINKS
-Have you ever done something embarrassing
to attract somebody's attention? If yes, tell me when
it happened.
I have never done anything TOO
humiliating for a girl. However, my pride is not the
reason for this. To be honest I actually enjoy it and
find it very attractive when a young lady has the confidence
to approach a guy. If a girl can walk up to a guy and
be eloquent and confident about what she wants, I'm
sold.
-Thanks
again Chris for sharing your story with me, good luck
for your career!
