Interview
by Edo Q. for CoverMen
Mag! April,
2008
-Hi
Lionel, thanks for accepting to be interviewed for my
online magazine, just to start this interview
off, tell me about yourself, your hometown and your
personal interests.
So I'm 26 years old,
I'm from Lausanne, the French part of Switzerland. I've been doing modeling since 2006.
I did also the Mister
Switzerland Contest in 2007 and I got the 2nd place
(listen to the interview in French on dailymotion at
the bottom of the page click here).
I used to work as a financial analyst and got a master
in 2005. I love to ski and practice almost every sport.
-You
left your job to pursue a career in modelling, why did
you make this choice? Was that your dream when you were
a kid? Do you have any regrets?
I made this
choice because I was feeling too young to start a business
life so early, I was working and studying a lot and I never had much time to travel. So I decided
to have a break to start something different with a
lot of travels. It wasn't a dream for me to be a model.
Actually, I've never really thought to do that in my
life but the opportunity came to me so... Of course,
I have no regrets today, my life is different every day
with new experiences, I discover a new country almost
every 2 months, different cultures, I meet so many people
and build many connections for my future.

-Tell
me about your modelling experiences so far.
I've already
modelled in different countries, most of
them in Europe. I've been in Germany, Italy, France,
Poland, Ireland, Turkey, Hong-Kong, Shanghai...
So
I had the chance to work for many designers, magazines
and brands, some of them pretty famous (Zegna, Cosmopolitan,
Elle, Fila, S. Ferragamo, Toyota, Men's Health, Volkswagen,
Iceberg, Moschino etc)
-What kind of
assignments, as a model, do you prefer? (TV commercials,
runways, photo shoots....)
All of them give
me a different feeling and have advantages and disadvantages.
But if I have to choose one, I'll say runways for the
energy you get on the catwalk.
-What are
your personal and professional goals?
My
goals are really simple. With my financial background,
I'm still thinking to open my own business in the next
three years. With modelling, I can touch many different
cultures and meet many different people. With the money
I've saved with modeling, I'll be able to
do something for my own in the future. Regarding personal goals, I'll say like most of the people, to have a family and
to
be able to live at a comfortable level.
-What
are some characteristics of your personality? What adjectives
would you use to describe yourself?
- Ambitious
and ready for new challenges;
-I guess, you
travel a lot, what was the most interesting place you
have ever visited?
I'm in Hong-Kong right
now and for me that's really an interesting place. For
modeling, that not the best if you compare it with Europe
or United States but they have a different way of thinking that
I like. Also, regarding business, there are here many
possibilities and people ready to believe in you as
soon as you come with some good ideas. Hong-Kong is
a place where every single person will find something
they like.
-How do you spend your free
time if you have any?
I spend my free time
really simply. Most of time, I use this time to practice
some sports and see some friends. In the modeling life,
it's quite easy to meet new people (locals or others
models)
-One question about women: are
you a heartbreaker?
HAHA, I'll say that I
used to be a little bit heartbreaker... But I'm
getting better and better :)

-Thanks
again Lionel for taking the time to reply to my questions,
good luck!
